Why We Think Grey Is The New Neutral

Where whites, beiges and creams were once the go-to neutrals on which to base wedding colour themes, grey has undergone a massive transformation, being used through all aspects of a theme; it’s no longer just reserved for the men’s suits…. and we can’t get enough of it!

Totally Tipi- Grey is the new neutral

“ Don’t be fooled by the misconception that grey is cold, uninviting or drab. Modern greys of the 21st century have been enhanced and enriched to possess more adaptable colour undertones, enlivening them from the simple, flat greys of days gone by, to the dynamic backdrop they have become today” BEHR

We’ve put together some of our favourite grey colour themes to  inspire your events….

Eclectic Sanctuary | A relaxed yet warm feel was key for us when creating Hygge Tipi so we up-cycled furniture using Superior Chalk Paint in Earl Grey, from Everlong. Paired with our danish-oiled, rustic timber dining tables and eclectic mix of books and board games under our glowing amber canvas and the blue-grey toned tables, cushions, soft blankets and matt finish furniture gave a calm and relaxed undertone to the space, without dominating the overall look.

Glamorous Grey | It’s easy to see why our tipi space can dictate a rustic themed event but add some grey tones within stationery, table linen and foliage, plus a tasteful sprinkling of glitter or some gilt candle holders and you can have yourself a classical feel with a touch of glamour.

Fresh and vibrant | Choose grey as a base for your event theme and any colour will pop against it. We used brightly coloured draping at our Spring Open Weekend which could easily be alternated with grey lengths of fabric, table linen and some dramatic colourful floral installation as contrast.

Coral of The One will be injecting her creative magic in to our teepees at the Great Yorkshire Show 11th-13th July, bringing a wash of grey to our very own rustic furniture and feature-pieces , along with fabric draping and beautiful florals from Faye at The Flower Shop.

Hopefully, as you’ve seen here, Grey can add sophistication and polish to any theme- we think it’s the perfect neutral!
